Background

What do Britain, New Zealand and, Israel have in common? This whilst seeming like the start to a bad joke is in fact not. These three countries all share the fact that they possess what is termed an uncodified constitution. Meaning that their constitutions are not written down into a single document. This is in contrast to countries such as the USA who do posess codified constitutions. In the USA sovereignty is held in the constitution. This in essence makes the constitution the ‘supreme law’ and means that all bills passed by Congress…
